Help couples find us

I'm Marek, the founder of QuizYourGuests. I originally built it for my own wedding two years ago to break the ice between our two groups of guests (the perk of being a software engineer!). It was a big success, so I made it freely available afterwards. It has since somewhat evolved into a bigger app, with a photo wall, a find-your-seat search and a bunch of other ice-breakers.

Because I started this as a hobby project, it's been free (with a very affordable premium option to remove the branding) and offers more features than most similar stand-alone wedding products. I genuinely think it's a good product and I want more people to discover it!

Here is the situation: couples find us through search, but almost nobody in the wedding world has heard of us. The product is working great, but not enough folks know about it. What it needs now is someone who enjoys the part I don't: getting us listed, mentioned, recommended and talked about. This is a part-time, paid, remote role for that.

Who this is for

  • A wedding professional who knows the industry from the inside: a planner, a coordinator, someone who has worked for a venue or a supplier. If you are a planner with a quiet November to February, this fits neatly into it.
  • Or a freelance marketer who already has wedding contacts and is happy to send forty emails a week and chase every one of them.
  • UK-based ideally, because that is where most of our couples are. Germany is our second market, so German is a bonus, not a requirement. Let me know if you speak any other languages, though!
  • You do not need to know anything about software!

What you'd do

  • Get us listed in the wedding directories and supplier guides that couples actually use.
  • Pitch wedding blogs, newsletters and podcasts, and follow up until you get an answer.
  • Find and sign small creators to make videos about the quiz. There is a separate page for them: Ambassadors.
  • Run our sponsored-wedding programme: we print couples' QR table cards and cover a little of their stationery, and they film the quiz being played. You find the couples and keep it moving.
  • Answer real questions in the open wedding forums, properly, and mention us where it fits.
  • Book and staff one wedding fair in engagement season.
  • Keep a simple record of what worked and what didn't, so we spend the next budget better than the last.

What you get

  • Your own inbox at our domain. You speak for us. I do not sit between you and the people you write to.
  • A budget for listings, creators, printing and the sponsored weddings, with a cap we agree, and no approval needed inside it.
  • Your own code, so signups and weddings that came through your work are visible as yours.
  • Half an hour a week with me, more if you need, and otherwise you are left alone to do the job.
  • The product, our answer data from real weddings, eighteen blog posts and a founder story to pitch with.

How we pay

  • A fixed monthly fee for about a day a week of your time: £400 to £800 a month depending on experience, agreed up front.
  • Plus a bonus for every placement that goes live: a listing published, a podcast recorded, a post up, a creator signed.
  • Three months to start, renewable if it is working for both of us. An hourly rate instead of the monthly fee is fine if you prefer it.
  • If you are more entrepreneurial, we can talk about a share of revenue on top. I will be straight with you that the product is free today and the paid tier is small, so treat that as upside, not as the deal.

Before either of us commits to three months, there is a paid test: £100 for one week, five contacts of your choosing from a list I give you, using the inbox above. Write, send, chase once, tell me what happened. We will both know by the end of the week.

What stays with me

The product itself, the code, anything involving a couple's data, and any message from a couple about a live wedding. If one of those lands in your inbox, forward it and I take it from there.

How to apply

Email hello@quizyourguests.com with the subject line "Outreach" and tell me, in a few lines:

  • what you have done in weddings or in marketing, whichever applies;
  • one placement you would go after first for us, and why;
  • roughly when you could start and how many hours a week you have.

No CV needed. I read every one and reply within a few days.

If you would rather be on camera than in an inbox, see Ambassadors instead.
